Parish Administration & Communications

Parish Advisory Board
The PAB meets monthly and is made up of 12 elected members and one member for life (Thaddenia West who is the only surviving founder). Six new members are elected each spring during a parish-wide, popular election, replacing those whose terms have lapsed. Members can serve two consecutive two-year terms and then must step down for at least one year. A combined meeting of the Parish Advisory Board and Finance Council is held annually to set priorities for the year. With the parish mission statement and goals and objectives as their creed, the role of the PAB is to act as advisor to the pastor by expressing the 'voice of the parish'. Members engage the parish at large to create opportunities for dialogue, encourage involvement, seek out resources and provide opportunities that foster fellowship and community.

Finance Council

The FC meets at least 4 times per year, and annually with the Parish Advisory Board to set priorities for the year. The Finance Council is made up of 8 appointed members. Also in attendance at FC meetings are the Budget Committee chair, the pastor and the business administrator. A term on the FC is three years. Members can serve two consecutive terms and then must step down for at least one year. Elections take place in the fall. In accordance with the requirements of the new Canon Law, the purpose of the Finance Council (FC) is to advise the pastor in evaluating and making decisions about the use of the material wealth and goods of the parish. The primary objective of the Council is to support the stated goals and objectives of the parish as determined by the Advisory Board in consultation with the pastor.

The Growing Faith Committee (Landscaping)

This group is in a state of flux and can use new volunteers to work during the spring and summermonths to help beautify the church grounds. Working occasional Saturdays or evenings during the week to do planting and weeding is also needed. There are some critical times during the spring and fall when there is a call to work together, or there are other opportunities when volunteers can come according to their own schedule and do some pre-identified tasks. This is a great ministry for people who need a flexible schedule and who like working outdoors.

The Advocate Newsletter

The first edition of The Advocate was published in the late 1980s and was designed to be the vehicle used by the lay leadership (Parish Advisory Board (PAB) and Finance Council (FC)) to communicate with the parish at large. Published quarterly, more recently each issue has come to feature a topic relevant to Catholic social teaching.

OLQP Website

Our parish website is currently under construction. The team would benefit from volunteers who are available to monitor for accuracy, dated material and editing. This work can be done with the use of a parish office computer or from your home computer.
